Le Musée d'arts de Nantes : Stanton Williams

Fondé en 1801, installé dans les bâtiments actuels depuis 1900, le Musée d'arts est depuis son origine une institution culturelle majeure de Nantes. Il fallait donc à cette institution un renouveau à la hauteur de son importance. En 2009, l'agence Stanton Williams a remporté un concours international pour la transformation et l'extension du Musée d'arts de Nantes ainsi que la conception de la muséographie pour l'ensemble des bâtiments qui forment le nouveau musée. Cet ouvrage raconte les tenants et les aboutissants du projet architectural et muséographique.

The Musée d'arts, which was established in 1801 and has been housed in the current building since 1900, has been a major cultural institution in Nantes since the beginning. The institution thus deserved a new lease of life worthy of its importance, and its heritage status was a fundamental parameter in the renovation project. In 2009, Stanton Williams won an international competition for the transformation and extension of the Musée d'arts in Nantes and the design for the interior of the buildings that make up the new museum. This book tells the ins and outs of the architectural project and the museography.
