Ce que la forme « exige » n'est jamais prescrit d'avance : elle se déploie dans l'échange avec le geste, dans une interaction continue et performative.

The emergence of the drawing is not the result of some kind of epiphany, but of obstinate vigilance : the artist's intentions follow all the twists and turns of the process, reshaping themselves according to the light, the tool, the atmosphere. What the form « demands » is never prescribed in advance : it unfolds in exchange with the gesture, in a continuous, performative interaction.

De totstandkoming van een tekening is geen kwestie van een plots inzicht, maar van een volgehouden alertheid. De intenties van de kunstenaar volgen alle kronkels van het proces en passen zich voort-durend aan, aan de lichtinval, het gereedschap, de sfeer. Wat de vorm « vraagt » ligt nooit vooraf vast : zij ontwikkelt zich in het samenspel met het gebaar, via een voortdurende, performatieve dialoog.
