Anne Elliot is the second daughter of the vain baronet Sir Walter Elliot of Kellynch Hall. She is now in her late twenties and her past bloom is almost gone. Eight years have passed since, although in love, she was persuaded by her family and a close friend to break off her engagement to handsome but poor navy captain Frederick Wentworth. Will they be reunited now that Wentworth has returned from sea rich and famous ?
