Simone Simon

Au milieu des années 70, Simone Simon débute une carrière de photographe de mode, un choix audacieux dans une époque et un milieu où les femmes se trouvent de l'autre côté de l'objectif. À partir des années 2000, elle s'investit dans une démarche artistique et se défait alors des considérations purement esthétiques au profit d'une intention narrative et sociale, où le témoignage d'anonymes prend une large place. Et quand la figure humaine disparaît de ses images, c'est au profit de prises de vue urbaines et d'environnements naturels qui « font paysage », et dans lesquels pourtant notre présence demeure. Nous entrons alors en contemplation, face à nos propres traces et à la vibration du vivant.

In the mid-70s, Simone Simon begins a career as a fashion photographer, a bold choice in a time and industry wherein women stood on the other side of the lense. From the 2000s onwards, she commits to an artistic approach to then free herself from purely aesthetic considerations in favour of a narrative and social intention, where anonymous people's testimony takes a large place. And when the human figure disappears from her images, it's to the benefit of urban shots and natural environments that « look like landscapes », yet in which our presence remains. Then, we enter into a contemplation, facing our own marks and the vibration of the living.
